Dear Steve,

Thank you for St. Mary’s College of California’s membership ($1,000) in the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education. Membership will run through July 1, 2007 and covers every individual on campus.

We’re pleased to have your institution’s participation in the growing network of schools, businesses, and organizations working to advance sustainability in higher education. Institutional membership includes discounts to AASHE-sponsored workshops, events, and conferences, access to members-only online resources, and opportunities for professional development and networking. Everyone on your campus can take advantage of these benefits and services.

In late 2005, in response to demand, we transitioned from a regional network (EFS West, or Education for Sustainability Western Network) to a North American higher education association serving campuses throughout the U.S. and Canada.  AASHE aims to advance the efforts of the entire campus sustainability community by uniting diverse initiatives and connecting practitioners to resources and professional development opportunities. The association also provides a professional home for campus sustainability coordinators and directors.

I look forward to St. Mary’s participation in our North American conference – AASHE 2006: The Role of Higher Education in Creating a Sustainable World (Oct 4-6, Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ).

Thank you again for your membership!

Sincerely,

Judy R. Walton, Ph.D.

Executive Director
